Weather Scare

Happy Birthday to my hubby! Who loves birthday's but not the getting older part.

Last night was the scardest (is that a word?...no spell check says it is not but I am leaving it) I have been in a long, long time. My husband and I went out to eat and I knew he was going to go home and watch the Royals game (for the third night in a row) and that sounded boring to me. So I dropped him off and was headed to Gordmans to do some shopping. When we left the restaurant it had started raining lightly and by the time I was exiting my neighborhood to go to Gordmans it was pouring rain. As I was driving towards Gordmans the rain was coming down in sheets and it was pretty hard to see. I kept saying to myself "maybe I should turn around and go back home." I would drive a little farther and think the same thing again. The lightening was so intense the hairs would stand up on my arms when it flashed. I finally decided I would turn around and go back home. As I get turned around I realize the storm is now coming at me and visibility is impossible. I looked out my windshield and all I could see was swirling sheets of rain. There was no trace of the road I was driving on - and I happened to be on a bridge as that point. Scary stuff. The only thing I could do was roll my tires a few rotations and then completely stop to wait for the rain to blow around enough so that I could try to see the road. I had to do this the entire way home. Other cars around me were doing the same thing. It was the ONLY way to be able to see. I prayed all the way home and thanked God to no end once I was safe in my driveway. Scaaaarrrry!

This morning as I was driving into work I counted two trees over by my house that were snapped in two and several limbs and branches down. As I got into the town where I work there were several trees totally uprooted and blocking roads. They got hit much worse than we did. Thank goodness I wasn't driving over here last night.

I ended up with the dog on the couch again last night for the second night in a row. Tuesday night the thunder was not too bad but last night it was very loud. I didn't blame her for being scared.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July! I am on vacation next week and will try to post as much as I can.
